Badrinath is a sacred pilgrimage town nestled in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters in the magnificent Garhwal Himalayas. Day 1
Begin your pilgrimage with an early departure from Rishikesh/Haridwar toward Joshimath. The 8-9 hour scenic drive follows the Alaknanda River through mountain villages and stunning Himalayan landscapes. Visit Devprayag where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers merge to form the Ganges. Reach Joshimath by evening for overnight stay and acclimatization to the higher altitude.
Day 2
After breakfast, continue your journey to Badrinath (45 km from Joshimath). Visit the hot springs at Tapt Kund for a purifying dip before heading to Badrinath Temple for darshan. Explore the colorful temple premises and attend the mesmerizing evening aarti. The illuminated temple against the mountain backdrop creates an unforgettable spiritual atmosphere.
Day 3
Begin with early morning prayers at the temple when it's less crowded. Later, trek to Vasudhara Falls (5 km) where the water is believed to fall only for the virtuous. Visit nearby Mana Village, India's last village before the Tibet border, and see Vyas Gufa (cave) where sage Vyas composed the Mahabharata. Explore Bheem Pul, a natural stone bridge believed to be placed by Bheem.
Day 4
Venture to Yogadhyan Badri temple and continue to Pandukeshwar, home to ancient temples. For the adventurous, trek part of the famous Valley of Flowers trail to experience magnificent Himalayan flora. Return to Badrinath by evening for a final temple visit and spiritual contemplation beside the Alaknanda River.
Day 5
After morning prayers and a final darshan, begin your descent toward Rishikesh/Haridwar. The journey offers a last glimpse of the majestic mountains. Make a stop at Nandaprayag or Karnprayag to visit riverside temples before continuing onward. Arrive in Rishikesh/Haridwar by evening, completing your sacred Badrinath pilgrimage.
