Day 1: Arrival in Mangalore
Arrive in Mangalore and check into your beachfront hotel. Afternoon visit to St. Aloysius Chapel with its remarkable Italian frescoes covering ceiling and walls. Continue to the historic Mangaladevi Temple giving the city its name. Evening stroll along Tannirbhavi Beach with sunset views. Dinner featuring Mangalorean seafood specialties like kane fry (ladyfish) and neer dosa.
Day 2: Mangalore to Udupi
Morning visit to Sultan Battery, a watchtower built by Tipu Sultan, and the 400-year-old Kadri Manjunath Temple with its bronze statue of Lokeshwara. Drive to Udupi (1 hour), famous for its Krishna Temple and vegetarian cuisine. Afternoon temple visit observing the unique worship methods where Krishna is viewed only through a nine-holed window. Visit nearby Malpe Beach for relaxation and fresh seafood. Participate in a cooking demonstration of authentic Udupi cuisine known for its distinctive South Indian flavors.
Day 3: Udupi to Murudeshwar
Morning drive to Kollur (2 hours) to visit the famous Mookambika Temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati. Continue to Murudeshwar (2 hours), home to the world's second-tallest Shiva statue and an impressive gopuram overlooking the Arabian Sea. Check into your seaside resort. Evening beach walk and exploration of the temple complex dramatically lit at night.
Day 4: Murudeshwar to Gokarna
Morning visit to Netrani Island (if weather permits) for snorkeling in crystal clear waters with vibrant coral and marine life. Alternatively, relax at Murudeshwar Beach. Afternoon drive to Gokarna (2 hours), a temple town with pristine beaches. Evening guided walk through the ancient town with its traditional Brahmin quarters and Mahabaleshwar Temple, one of the important Shiva temples in India.
Day 5: Gokarna Beaches and Departure
Morning trek connecting Gokarna's famous beaches – Kudle, Om, Half Moon, and Paradise – each with distinct character and separated by rocky headlands offering spectacular views. Time for swimming and relaxation at your favorite beach. Return to town for lunch featuring local specialties. Final visit to Mahabaleshwar Temple or shopping for handicrafts before departure.
