Day 1: Arrival in Manali and Acclimatization

Arrive in Manali and check into your hotel. Acclimatization day with light activities to prepare for the high altitudes ahead. Visit Hadimba Temple and Old Manali. Afternoon briefing on the journey with tips for high-altitude travel. Evening free to explore Manali's markets and cafes. Early dinner and rest.

Day 2: Manali to Kaza via Rohtang Pass

Early departure for a spectacular drive to Kaza (12 hours including stops), crossing Rohtang Pass (3,980m) and Kunzum Pass (4,590m). Drive along Chandra River through Gramphu, Chatru, and Batal. Stop at Chandratal Lake (Moon Lake) for short walk and photography if road conditions permit. Reach Kaza (3,800m) by evening. Check into hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3: Kaza and Key Monastery

Morning visit to Key Monastery (4,166m), Spiti's largest monastery dramatically positioned on a hilltop. Interaction with monks and exploration of thousand-year-old Buddhist artifacts and thangka paintings. Continue to Kibber village (4,270m), once the world's highest motorable village with traditional homes. Visit Chicham Bridge, Asia's highest suspension bridge. Return to Kaza for visit to local market and Sakya Tangyud Monastery with distinctive fortified architecture.

Day 4: Kaza to Dhankar and Tabo

Drive to Dhankar Monastery (3,894m) precariously perched on a cliff edge offering spectacular valley views. Short trek to Dhankar Lake if time and energy permit. Continue to Tabo village to visit Tabo Monastery, founded in 996 CE and known as the "Ajanta of the Himalayas" for its exquisite murals and stucco sculptures. Overnight in Tabo homestay for authentic Spitian experience with local family.

Day 5: Tabo to Manali and Departure

Early morning departure for return journey to Manali (10-12 hours) via different route through Kinnaur Valley if road conditions permit. Drive along Spiti River with stops at panoramic viewpoints. See the confluence of Spiti and Sutlej rivers at Khab. Continue through Nako and Kalpa with final mountain views before reaching Manali for departure connections.
