Day 1: Arrival in Bagdogra and Transfer to Darjeeling
Arrive at Bagdogra airport and drive to Darjeeling (3 hours) through winding mountain roads and tea gardens. Check into your heritage hotel. Evening stroll on Mall Road exploring the colonial-era charm, vibrant markets, and cafés. Enjoy dinner with mountain views.
Day 2: Darjeeling Exploration
Early morning visit to Tiger Hill for spectacular sunrise views of Kanchenjunga and distant Everest (weather permitting). Continue to Ghoom Monastery, one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the area. Return for breakfast, then experience the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway "toy train" ride, a UNESCO World Heritage attraction. Afternoon visit to a tea estate with guided tour of tea processing and tasting session of premium Darjeeling varieties. Evening cultural show featuring dances of the region's diverse communities.
Day 3: Darjeeling to Pelling, Sikkim
Drive to Pelling in West Sikkim (5 hours) crossing the Rangeet River. Stop at Rabdentse Ruins, the ancient capital of Sikkim, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas. Check into your hotel in Pelling. Afternoon visit to Pemayangtse Monastery, one of Sikkim's oldest and most significant monasteries with its intricate woodcarvings and religious artifacts. Evening at leisure with mountain views.
Day 4: Pelling Exploration
Morning visit to Khecheopalri Lake, considered sacred by both Buddhists and Hindus. Continue to Kanchenjunga Falls, an impressive cascade surrounded by forest. Afternoon visit to Singshore Bridge, one of Asia's highest suspension bridges offering spectacular valley views. Return via traditional Sikkimese villages where you can sample local cuisine and interact with residents. Evening traditional dinner with chang (millet beer) tasting.
Day 5: Pelling to Bagdogra and Departure
Morning visit to an organic farm to learn about Sikkim's pioneering organic agriculture initiatives. Drive back to Bagdogra (5 hours) for departure, with stops at viewpoints along the way to capture final glimpses of the majestic Himalayas.
