Tour overview
Kedarnath is one of India's most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites, nestled in the majestic Himalayas of Uttarakhand at an elevation of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet). This ancient temple town is home to the revered Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which stands as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and forms part of the sacred Char Dham pilgrimage circuit.
The stunning temple, built with massive stone slabs, dates back to the 8th century CE and has withstood the test of time, even surviving devastating floods in 2013. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and the pristine Mandakini River, Kedarnath offers breathtaking Himalayan vistas.
Visitors must trek approximately 16 kilometers from Gaurikund or take a helicopter ride to reach this remote sanctuary. The pilgrimage season runs from April/May to October/November, as heavy snowfall renders the area inaccessible during winter months.
Beyond its spiritual significance, Kedarnath serves as a gateway to spectacular Himalayan treks and natural beauty, making it an unforgettable destination for both pilgrims and nature enthusiasts.
